Major Tech has launched a range of solar-powered floodlights to ensure customers can light different environments in remote areas without an electricity supply, or when Eskom is unable to supply electricity. There are three products in the range of floodlights using 8W, 10W or 20W of power.

8W LED with PIR

The SFP83 is an energy-efficient 8W solar-powered 88 x 2835 SMD LED floodlight with a built-in PIR (Passive Infrared) sensor. The PIR sensor continuously scans the operational zone for a moving heat source. When movement is detected, it automatically switches on the light. The sensor can be adjusted to scan an area of 8 metres to 10 metres and the light can be set to burn for between three seconds and four minutes.

The 8W LED produces 500 lumens and is IP44 rated. IP stands for “Ingress Protection” and the 44 rating means the system is protected from ingress by most wires, slender screws, large ants etc., as well as splashes of water, such as rain.

The solar panel measures 120mm x 210mm and charges a 7.4V 1800mAh battery, which can keep the light on continuously for about 70 minutes.

10W LED floodlight

The SFR105 is an energy-efficient 10W solar-powered LED floodlight that produces 600 lumens. The 195mm x 195mm Aluminium solar panel charges a 3.7V 4000mAh Lithium Phosphate battery that will keep the floodlight on for about 8 hours at 100% output.

Designed for the outdoors, the SFR105 is resistant to rust and is IP65 rated, which means it is completely dust-proof and can withstand jets of water directed at it. The system includes a 3-metre cable, allowing the panel to be positioned away from the light.

The floodlight is controlled by a remote control which can activate the light and set up automatic activation times. Timer options are for three, five or eight hours, and the user can choose to have the floodlight working at 100% or 50% power.

20W LED floodlight

The SFR210 is a solar-powered LED floodlight that produces 1000 lumens. It is IP65 rated to keep dust and water out and casts a light beam at a 120o angle.

The Aluminium solar panel measures 250mm x 350mm and powers a 3.7V 8000mAh Lithium Phosphate battery that can provide over eight hours of operation at 100% power. A 3-metre cable is included to allow the panel to be placed apart from the floodlight.

The floodlight is controlled by a remote control which can activate the light and users can set up automatic activation according to their needs. Timer options are for three, five or eight hours, and the user can choose to have the floodlight working at 100% or 50% power.
